I want to remind everyone that some birds may never talk despite all your time and effort, but also that's exactly what it takes is time, effort, and patience. DO: . Buy a young bird . Buy one bird at a time. Two birds will communicate with each other and not with you. . Keep the bird in the midst of family activity. Stop and chat with it frequently. .Designate one family member to be the primary teacher(* note it says primary not "only") .Plan what you want the bird to learn, and keep a list next to its cage. .Enunciate. The more clearly you speak, the more clearly your bird will speak. . Be patient. It can take a long time before your Budgie begins to talk. . Listen to what your bird is trying to say. .Have close personal contact with your bird. . Maintain your bird's vocabulary by periodically reviewing words and phrases.
DON'T: . Put a mirror in your Budgie's cage before it learns to talk- it will think there is another bird and may choose to interact with the mirror rather than you. .Whistle to your bird until it learns to talk. . Give up on your pet (especially if it doesn't learn to talk...my notation not the mags. be prepared that he/she may never talk and love your bird anyway)
